The European Union’s response to refugees fleeing the conflict in Ukraine has been largely commendable, demonstrating an ability to effectively support children affected by the crisis. However, this response highlights past shortcomings in addressing refugee crises, particularly during the influx of refugees in 2015 and 2016. Despite the increased number of refugees from Ukraine seeking protection, the EU’s previous approach to refugee arrivals was deemed dysfunctional and often cruel. Save the Children’s report delves into the consequences of various EU and European state policies on children, drawing on research, interviews, and experiences across 13 European countries.
We were requested to design the brochure layout, infographics, and social media content for this important campaign, drawing on Save the Children’s research across 13 European countries. Our goal was to visually communicate the impact of EU and European state policies on children affected by the Ukrainian conflict, advocating for their well-being and protection.
As the European Union (EU) makes important decisions that affect children’s lives, five child rights organisations – ChildFund Alliance, Eurochild, Save the Children, SOS Children’s Villages and UNICEF – reached out to children and young people to collect their views on the future of Europe ahead of the European elections.
More than 9,200 children aged 10 to 18 have spoken about the issues that matter most to them, providing their recommendations for EU decision-makers to consider and act upon.
